After several online meetings and messages back and forth, this evening we hosted our first in-person meeting of our Volunteer Scouters at Tuar Ard Arts Centre.

At our inaugural meeting, we:

• Discussed suitable venue options for our weekly youth member sessions
• Held a vote to approve setting up the Group’s bank account
• Held elections for the first five members of our Group Council:
  • James Kinlan – Group Leader
  • Deirdre O’Brien McGivney – Deputy Group Leader (Interim)
  • Eoin O’Brien – Chairperson
  • Megan Nieuwoudt – Treasurer
  • Shane Lynam – Secretary

A special thank you to Deirdre from Lakelands Scout County, who offered to act as interim Deputy Group Leader to guide us through the process of establishing and running the new Group. She also gave us valuable insights into programme planning for the Beaver and Cub sections, which we plan to open in September. Additional sessions will be held in the coming weeks to continue this planning before we officially start.
