In October 2024, Scouting Ireland, in partnership with Moate Sports & Recreation Centre, published communications seeking to re-establish a Scout Group in Moate. They also called for expressions of interest from adult volunteers willing to provide Scouting activities for young people in Moate and the surrounding areas.

With great excitement — and a sense of adventure — our volunteer leader team reached out to Peter O’Brien from Scouting Ireland and Deirdre McGivney from our local Lakelands Scout County. Our team quickly grew, and our journey began!

With guidance from Scouting Ireland and Lakelands Scout County, our volunteers registered with Scouting Ireland and took part in training courses to ensure we would be fully prepared to guide our future youth members along their Scouting trail.
