Social & Skills Afternoon

A few of our Scouters got together in Dun na Sí this afternoon for a couple of hours. Thankfully, the weather was on our side — the rain from yesterday was nowhere to be seen!

We learned how to fold our neckers properly and got sized up for our Scout shirts. There were a few housekeeping updates to go through before we got down to the real business — setting up the tents.

A big thank you to Mullingar Scouts for lending us an Icelandic Tent and a Vango Tent.

Under the guidance of our Group Leader, James, we made quick work of putting up the two smaller tents. Then came the Icelandic… and for some of our former youth members, there was a small sense of déjà vu (and maybe a touch of PTSD!) as we wrestled it into place.

Once it was standing tall, we wrapped up with a good chat about our plans for the weeks and months ahead. We’re looking at a few different activities for our Beavers and Cubs in the first 6–12 weeks leading up to Christmas — so there’s lots of planning (and excitement) ahead as we get ready to welcome our youth members.

We can’t wait to get our Sections up and running!
